Water is necessary for your brain to operate at peak performance. Being just a little bit dehydrated can impair memory recall and speed.
Tip: Drink a glass of water before you start any project that needs full attention and continue to hydrate as your work.
Aim to consume ½ of your body weight in ounces of pure water daily.
Tip: If you don’t like the taste of plain water, add a slice of citrus or cucumber to give it a fresh flavor.
Avoid rehydration powders/drinks with loads of sugar and artificial nasties. Try pure coconut water with a pinch of sea salt instead of sugary sports drinks.
Use a glass water bottle to measure what you consume in a day.
Tip: Always fill it up before you leave the house to assure you don’t go without.
Try to consume your water throughout the day, as your kidneys can only handle so much at one time.
Tip: Use an app on your phone to help remind you to drink like Daily Water Free, Waterlogged or Water Tracker Daily.
Exercise can quickly deplete your water and leave you with less strength and coordination.
Tip: Add 1 additional glass to this number per each 30 minutes of moderate exercise.
A lot of water is lost during the night as your lungs use water to moisten the air while you breathe.
Tip: Drink a large glass of water upon rising to make up for the loss.
Caffeine and alcohol are both dehydrating.
Tip: Consume an extra glass of water for each glass consumed of alcohol or coffee.
Dehydration is one of the main causes of headaches.
Tip: Before reaching for a painkiller, drink a large glass or two of water.
Cold water can increase your metabolic rate up to 30%!
Tip: Drink your cold water away from meals, as the cold water can decrease your digestive ability.
Water is essential for helping to move nutrients into and toxins out of the body.
Tip: With every sip of water, visualize that water going into all of your cells and helping you become healthier and healthier!
Remember, you usually become dehydrated before you feel it, stay on top of your water consumption and you will be much healthier for it!
